BioBorneo 2017 will be held on 9 May 2017 at the Imperial Hotel, Kuching, Sarawak. The event is co-organized by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), the Malaysian Bioeconomy Development Corporation Sdn Bhd (Bioeconomy Corporation) and the Sarawak Biodiversity Centre (SBC).

Themed “Driving Bioeconomy for Rural Transformation”, BioBorneo 2017 will serve as a platform to explore bioeconomy opportunities in Borneo, as well as providing an avenue for like-minded individuals and organisations to further share related knowledge, experience and opportunities in bioeconomy.

BioBorneo 2017 will comprise of Plenary Sessions and Bioeconomy Day programme which will positively impact the community development in Borneo and the biotechnology industry.

The Plenary Sessions will feature specialised panellists who are experts in their fields discussing potential opportunities within the biotechnology industry in Borneo and the region whilst the Bioeconomy Day programmes are to further boost bioeconomy development and rural transformation in Borneo as well as continue to provide awareness about Bioeconomy Transformation Programme (BTP), Bioeconomy Community Development Programme (BCDP), BioNexus Status as well as its opportunities for the public and private sectors in the bio-based industries. In addition, a workshop to identify potential projects for BTP, BCDP, BioNexus Status, Commercialising R&D via Technology Support and Facilitation from Industry Support will also be conducted during the event.
