BCF 2.0 Business Clinics Draw Positive Response From Bio-Based & Biotechnology Companies
Kuala Lumpur, 6 September 2019 – As part of its efforts to provide funding assistance to bio-based and biotechnology companies, Malaysian Bioeconomy Development Corporation (Bioeconomy Corporation) has been organising a series of business clinics on the Biotechnology Commercialisation Fund 2.0 (BCF 2.0) Programme this year. Launched in 2017 under the 11th Malaysia Plan, the BCF 2.0 Programme is a RM100 million soft loan fund designed for bio-based and biotechnology SMEs and matured companies to facilitate their business expansion as well as on-going commercialisation of their products and services.
Held on 11 July and 8 August at Bioeconomy Corporation’s headquarters this year, the business clinics gathered participants from BioNexus Status companies, Bioeconomy Transformation Programme (BTP) Trigger Project Owners, and anchor companies of the Bioeconomy Community Development Programme (BCDP). The companies were informed about the requirements and features of the BCF 2.0 Programme, and benefitted from the one-to-one coaching sessions with personnel from Malaysian Industrial Development Finance Berhad (MIDF), Bioeconomy Corporation’s strategic partner for the BCF 2.0 Programme.
Chief Executive Officer of Bioeconomy Corporation, Dr. Mohd Shuhaizam Mohd Zain, was delighted with the response to the business clinics, saying that the feedback from the companies were very encouraging. “The companies found the business clinics to be a beneficial networking opportunity and more importantly, a conducive platform for financial support and fund matching. So far, seven companies have submitted their applications for the BCF 2.0 and we look forward to more applicants. We want these companies to take advantage of this funding facilitation so they can improve their capacity, capability, and growth in this dynamic and competitive industry,” he said.
The final BCF 2.0 Business Clinic for 2019 will take place on 11 September at Bioeconomy Corporation’s headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.
