Bioeconomy Corporation Announces YBhg Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun as New Chairman
Kuala Lumpur, 6 August 2020 – Malaysian Bioeconomy Development Corporation (Bioeconomy Corporation) is pleased to announce the appointment of YBhg Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun as the new Non-Executive Chairman of Bioeconomy Corporation effective 24 July 2020. Appointed by the Honourable Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun succeeds Tuan Haji Masdi Mustapha who retired effective 20 July 2020.
Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun graduated with a Bachelor of Law (Hons) (London) before being admitted as a barrister at Lincoln’s Inn, London and called to the English Bar. He was subsequently admitted and enrolled as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court in Sabah and Sarawak.
Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun was formerly the Sabah State Assemblyman for N30 Karanaan, Sabah from 2004 until the Assembly was dissolved in July 2020. He formerly held the posts of Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment of Sabah (2006 – 2018) and Sabah Youth and Sports Minister (2004 – 2006) as well as several other prominent posts in the Sabah Civil Service. Among his previous notable experience include directorship in the Board of Directors of Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Berhad, Sabah Development Bank Berhad and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM); member of Majlis Perundingan Ekonomi Negara Kedua and Yayasan Salam. He is also the Trustee for Tabung Pendidikan 1 Billion.
