Bioeconomy Transformation Programme (BTP) Biocentral Workshop
The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) as the lead ministry for the Bioeconomy Transformation Programme (BTP) and the Malaysian Biotechnology Corporation Sdn Bhd (BiotechCorp) as the implementation agency, in collaboration with Melaka Biotechnology Corporation Sdn Bhd (MBC) will co-organise the BTP BioCentral workshop from 8 – 9 September 2014 at Holiday Inn, Malacca.
The BTP is a platform endorsed by the National Bioeconomy Council and launched by the Honourable Prime Minister of Malaysia on 30 October 2012 to maximise the commercial opportunities of Malaysian bio-based industries.
The BTP BioCentral workshop marks the last of the BTP workshops for 2014 after its series of successful runs in Sabah, Sarawak, Northern Corridor, Johor, and East Coast Economic Region. As for BioCentral workshop, this two-day event will focus on the states of Malacca, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Wilayah Persekutuan to formulate a strategic roadmap for developing Bioeconomy in the central region by identifying private sector bio-based projects to be part of BTP project pipeline.
During the BTP BioCentral workshop, participants will be invited to propose opportunities / commercial projects in the bio-based industry and economic sectors that produce, manage, and use of biological resources, such as agriculture, forestry, fisheries, food production, healthcare, chemicals and renewable energy, with the potential to be included under the BTP. The participants of the workshop comprising private companies, universities, research institutes and government agencies will provide perspectives and inputs on prioritised projects emphasising on the commercial readiness and economic impact to the nation.
