BiotechCorp continues its international profiling at world’s largest biotechnology event
Kuala Lumpur, April 11th 2013 ~ Malaysian Biotechnology Corporation (BiotechCorp), the lead development agency for the biotechnology industry in Malaysia, continues its international profiling in BIO International Convention – BIO Chicago 2013. Hosted by the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO), the Convention will be held from 22 -25 April in McCormick Place, Chicago, Illinois. The global event for biotechnology has been acknowledged in providing a strong pipeline of investment flows into Malaysia.
Through this 9th participation in the BIO International Conference and Exhibition, BiotechCorp aims to drive the bioeconomic growth by stretching the global bands of networking and unlocking potential growth areas with the United States of America and other international counterparts.
“In full support of the Bioeconomy Transformation Program and in continuously helping Malaysia gain visibility in the bio-based sphere, the nation’s development bodies such as Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA), Invest KL, East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECERDC), Bio-XCell together with the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI), will be alongside BiotechCorp as part of the Malaysian delegation to this global platform. We have realized the potential return from coordinating efforts with these investment bodies for global events as this will help stimulate an ecosystem that offers growth opportunities and value, for us and our stakeholders,” commented Chief Operating Officer of BiotechCorp, Dato’ Dr.Mohd Nazlee Kamal.
“This well-established convention has always been a strategic platform for Malaysia to showcase and tell the world what we have to offer considering the advantages that we have being within the Asia Pacific region. Our bioeconomy efforts will be highlighted further at BIO Chicago 2013 and we hope to gain many potential and significant movements in communication, development programs, and collaboration with global parties,” added Dato’ Nazlee.
The Malaysian delegation will be led by YBhg Professor Datin Paduka Dr. Khatijah bt Mohd Yusoff who is scheduled to officiate the Malaysian Pavilion on April 22nd 2013. The event will also be a platform for announcing document exchanges and collaborations between Malaysian biotech companies and global counterparts from US and India, enhancing Malaysia’s edge in the space of BioMedical.
“The collaborations that will be announced during BIO Chicago are crucial in presenting the support we have gotten in delivering the bioeconomy growth,especially for our bio-based industry,” added Dato’ Nazlee.
Featured also in the program will be a networking event, ‘Malaysia Night’, hosted by BiotechCorp to generate greater interaction between Malaysian representatives, BIO members, the Chicago business communities, and individuals from global bio-based companies.
The BIO International Convention is the world’s largest gathering of biotechnology professional, business leaders, scientists and policy makers and is expected to draw over 16,500 attendees with 1,700 exhibiting companies from 65 countries.
