MYPITCH@MIHAS 2019: Technologies to Add High Value to the Halal Industry
Kuala Lumpur, 1 April 2019 – For the second consecutive year, Malaysian Bioeconomy Development Corporation (Bioeconomy Corporation) and Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) will collaborate to organise MyPITCH during the Malaysia International Halal Showcase 2019 (MyPITCH@MIHAS 2019). Through the programme, seven companies and three public universities will pitch their technologies directly to local and international buyers and investors at MIHAS 2019.
According to Chief Executive Officer of Bioeconomy Corporation, Dr. Mohd Shuhaizam Mohd Zain, the MyPITCH programme this year will focus on pitching technologies instead of products, with the pitching categories expanded to include agro-based, Internet of Things (IOT) and medical/healthcare areas.
“Technologies in Malaysia are always evolving and have great potential to be tapped in the halal industry around the world. Malaysia’s technologies can be incorporated/work well with halal-based products/services from other countries. These technologies can add high value and improve halal-based products/services, increase competitiveness, and multiply business impact to the companies. We hope more international buyers will invest in Malaysian technologies to add value to their business,” he added.
This year’s programme follows the success of MyPITCH@MIHAS 2018, whereby 19 companies pitched over 30 halal certified products in the categories of cosmetic and personal care, agro-based and food, as well as nutrition and wellness last year. Over 40 local and international buyers were involved, including from South Korea, Japan, India and Singapore.
MyPITCH@MIHAS 2019 seeks to inspire growth of more Malaysian technologies that will lead to technology uptake/licensing by local and international companies while also creating more joint-ventures between international companies and Malaysian-technology owners. Although the pitchers have already been identified to participate in MyPITCH@MIHAS 2019, members of the public are invited to attend the programme, especially SMEs, start-ups, entrepreneurs, investors, buyers, and venture capitalists.
MyPITCH@MIHAS 2019 will commence on 3rd April 2019 at 2pm, Level 1A, Room MY 9 at Malaysia International Trade Exhibition Centre (MITEC). Entrance for the MyPITCH programme is FREE and attendees are encouraged to register via the following link: http://bit.do/eM33H
