Bio Molecular Industries (BioM) produces, distributes and sells radiopharmaceuticals for diagnosis and treatment for many medical conditions. A radiopharmaceutical consists of a combination of a radionuclide and a molecule or biological substance. At BioM, the radionuclide is a gamma emitter produced in a cyclotron, a particle accelerator. The first BioM biotechnology project is a radio pharmacy producing radiopharmaceuticals used in Positron Emission Tomography (PET) for various deadly diseases, such as heart disease, cancer and neurological disorder. The company also has a radiochemistry lab for research and development (R&D) activities.
